Bike ride to Long Beach Funk Fest with the roommate on Saturday, Aug. 18 at about 4pm.
Started at Veterans Memorial Pier and took the beach bike trail to Cherry Park.
The fest was held in a shaded parking lot- Thank God! It was pretty small, which one grand stage. There was a crowded beer garden and about 30 vendors. They had live art, trendy clothing(I got some ideas for making headbands at home), and great FUNkkayyy Music.
Next Saturday the Busker Fest takes place in a similar area. This is music by the people, for the people. Near First Street and Linden Ave. Bands will attend and perform for wooden nickels. The band who gets the most from attendees will be named the winner and given a grand prize (not specified).
There will be a beer garden, trunk shows, and food trucks to keep the crowd happy. The music ranges from rock, pop to indie and reggae. Known to be a great way to end the summer for locals, come have some fun in Long Beach, you know you want to!!!!
The vibes were infectious, everyone was in a good spirit, maybe the fumes of marijuana were effecting the crowd. The weather was perfect warm but not unbearable.
Breaking the scenery was the Fashion. Loved some outfits I saw! Women with their hair out and wavy, Boys with dreds, girls with dreds, not a lot of 'fros. The majority of the crowd was from 20-40's. It was overall a fun event that I was glad I experienced.
